Specialist Area: William is the senior commercial partner of the firm and heads both the commercial and commercial property departments. He specialises in company and partnership matters as well as business sales and acquisitions and as head of the commercial property department, undertakes a wide range of property transaction including residential, commercial and industrial developments, options leases and landlord and tenant issues.
William has a wide portfolio of property clients developing both commercial and residential sites and oversees not only the acquisition, development and planning of such sites, but also supervises the sales of the subsequent developments handled by his department.
The firm is able to count amongst its portfolio of business and property developer clients, not only local and regional clients but also national and international companies and businesses.
During his period with Beetenson & Gibbon William has also become something of a specialist in sports law, acting for The Mariners, Grimsby Town Football Club Plc and on the development of several golf courses and associated leisure and hotel developments. Through such contacts William has also acted for several high profile sports individuals and has been involved in many sporting issues ranging from sponsorship and sports rights and image contracts to employment contracts and issues. He has also dealt with specialist injunctions involving sports governing bodies and the interpretation of national and international sports regulations. |

| Career History: Articled with Yorkshire firm Last Suddards (now Hammond Suddards) at Leeds and Bradford. William moved on to specialise in Commercial and aricultural property with Hayes Son & Richmond. As a partner with HSR Law, specialising in commercial property, he headed the Doncaster office before joining Beetenson & Gibbon in 1991 to specialise in all aspects of commercial law/landlord and tenant and sports law, acting for both national and international companies, regional and local businesses. His remit includes providing sports law counsel to Grimsby Town Footbal Club Plc and advising other nationally known sports organisations and several high profile sports persons. |
| Personal: Married to Kay, both enjoying an active social life thanks mainly to a grown up family, a grandchild and the family animals. Enjoys supporting Grimsby Town Football Club and actively indulging in all matters and products connected to the wine industry. Enjoys fast cars and travel and has for a number of years been chairman of Age Concern North East Lincolnshire. |
